Ken Taylor

Ken Taylor was born in Melbourne, Australia. He works primarily within the music industry and is predominantly well known for his striking rock posters. Ken started in Perth Western Australia doing posters and album artwork for local bands. In 2001 He moved to Melbourne and slowly started to create a name for himself within Melbourne’s music scene. In 2006 he went out on his own and started to work full time on music based artwork.

Ken has designed posters and album artwork for many Australian bands including You Am I & The Beasts of Bourbon & Crowded House. Internationally he has designed artwork for bands such Queens of the Stone Age, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Kings of Leon, Bob Dylan & The Rolling Stones. Over the past few years he has become very well known for his limited edition silkscreened movie posters, working through MONDO with some of the worlds biggest movie licences. Ken has won the Desktop Create Award for Best illustration in both 2007 & 2009 and was a Guest Speaker at the 2009 AGIDEAS design conference, the 2011 Semi Permanent Creative Conference in both Melbourne and Perth and the 2012 Look Hear Conference in Newcastle. In 2012 he exhibited in Los Angles and then 2013 in Austin and was also part of SXSW Flatsock. Ken continues to work with bands both locally and internationally and is represented by Drawing Book.

Kilian Eng (1982)

Kilian Eng AKA DW Design was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1982 where he still lives and works. In 2010 Kilian Eng graduated from Konstfack, University of Arts Craft & Design in Stockholm from the master group in storytelling, graphic design & Illustration. A couple of years ago Kilian discovered the possibilities of working in a digital way with illustration. Without losing respect for the powers of pen and paper Kilian started to investigate this new medium. The computer proved to be the perfect tool and gave exactly the kind of workflow he was looking for. 

Today Kilian Eng AKA DW Design is working digitally with almost every visual project making illustrations rich in colour and often with a lot of environment presented. In recent years he has also started to work with animation for telling stories. Since he often thinks in terms of a longer sequence when illustrating the many possibilities with moving image connected to storytelling has proven to be a great addition.

A big interest in Kilians work is to create alternative worlds, they can become visible just by opening a kitchen drawer or listening to the sound of cars on the street. Imagination can take over everywhere and be the starting point to create something unexpected. Much Inspiration comes from the interest in both classic and futuristic architecture, surrealism, science fiction, theater scenography, different elements and shapes in the nature as well as in the urban landscape.

Some Kilian clients include: Miami Horror, Frite Nite, Tesla Boy, Digital Arts, Acclaim Magazine, Acne Production, Playboy US, Eight Magazine, Kulturskolan Södertälje, Tokyo Dawn, The Sound Of Arrows and Lazer Sword.

Rolando Cyril "AquaSixio" (1984)

Rolando Cyril Aka "AquaSixio" was born in France in 1984. He is a curious of life and admire the work of the time, the evolution of societies, the change of thoughts, the human revolutions….how drops after drops are born oceans. He choose the pseudo Aquasixio to put together his favorite element with his favorite digit. His characters are often lost children in quest for their truth (and not THE truth). Their stories are quite sad but the darkness of life is more inspiring than happy and safe people.

Tomer Hanuka (1974)

Tomer Hanuka was born in Israel in 1974. He is an award-winning illustrator and cartoonist. At age twenty-two, after completing three years of mandatory Israeli Army service, Hanuka moved to New York City. Following his graduation from the School of Visual Arts, he quickly became a regular contributor to many national magazines. His clients include Time Magazine, The New Yorker, Spin, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, MTV, and Saatchi & Saatchi. He is the winner of multiple medals from the Society of Illustrators and the Society of Publication Designers as well as American Illustration and Print magazine.

Tomer co-creates Bipolar with his identical twin brother Asaf for Alternative Comics. Bipolar is an experimental comic book series for which Tomer was nominated for the Eisner, Harvey and Ignatz awards. In 2006, Tomer published The Placebo Man (Alternative Comics), which compiles much of his work from Bipolar. He currently lives in New York City.

Juan Giménez López (1943)

Juan Giménez López was born in Mendoza, Argentina, in 1943. Fascinated since childhood by the drawing, he began imitating comics and Hispanic and Spanish books covers. Later he dedicated to drawing sequences of movies he liked, and even play them in clay. So he learned to draw narrative sequences. He completed his training studying Industrial Design.

He worked in several Argentine advertising agencies, learning to synthesize the narrative to the millimeter. In 1976, he performs the cartoo war omic As The Pique (Ace of Spades) with writer Ricardo Barreiro.

In the late seventies he moved to Europe, starting to draw cartoons for publishers. In 1979 published his first color album Estrella Negra (Blak Star). Then published Basura, Cuestión de Tiempo (Rubbish, Question of Time), whose script he also wrote, El Cuarto Poder (The Fourth Power), Leo Roa and  Juego Eterno (Eternal Game).

Currently he's living in Sitges (Spain) and collaborates with Alejandro Jodorowsky in the series La Casta de los Metabarones (The Caste of the Metabarons) (Jodorowsky is the writer), and a short film in preproduction.

Katsushika Hokusai (1760 - 1849)

Katsushika Hokusai was born in Edo (now Tokyo), Japan, in 1760 (exact date questionable). He was a Japanese artist, ukiyo-e painter and printmaker influenced by such painters as Sesshu, and other styles of Chinese painting.
Hokusai is best known as author of the woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji which includes the internationally recognized print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa, created during the 1820s.

Lois van Baarle "Loish" (1985)

Lois van Baarle "Loish" was born in Holland en 1985. She  is a digital illustrator who also works animation. She has been drawing since he could hold a pencil. Started drawing digitally with a mouse at age 15, and earned his first tablet at 16, after spending most of his free time with digital drawing. He is self-taught. At 18 he decided to study animation in college. for a year will do in Ghent (Belgium) and then move back to their home country to study at the Hogeschool voor Kunsten Utrecht (HKU) in Hilversum.

Loish has lived all over the world, including the United States, Indonesia, France and Belgium.

She has a clear female and youth brand, is cheerful, almost fairy, highlighting the excellent use of the color palette to give her pictures a great visual strength and a delicate air of nostalgia. Her digital brushstrokes have much in common with traditional painting thanks to the mastery of light and composition of their creations.

Martín Ansín (1977)

Martín Ansín was born in Uruguay in 1977. Lives and works in Montevideo. His best known work is the film posters produced in limited editions official for several current titles and classics. His particular style it's been working for clients such as Sony, Universal, HBO, Lucasfilm, Rolling Stone and The New Yorker and reap a legion of fans who follow his career and look forward to his version of every film that is released. 

Ansin drawing since he can remember, never was very akin to formal education and the way of learning was knowing oneself, researching styles, textures, color palettes that allow you to solve each scene. His beginnings were in the world of comics and it seems that there is good management of the situation, that game where you know where to stop time for the action to freeze and look like you are tracing one frame of the film.

Rhys Cooper

Rhys Cooper was born in Australia. He is an illustrator specialized in gig posters design (he worked for Them Crooked Vultures, Rage Against The Machine, Queens of the Stone Age, Kings of Leon, Metallica and Pearl Jam amongst others).

Orlando Arocena

Orlando Arocena was born in United States. He's a Mexican-Cuban American artist specializing in digital illustration. The clean, angular nature of vector illustration lends itself to a certain sci-fi flavor that permeates throughout Arocena’s work. As a Pratt Institute graduate in design, orlando used his interest in art history and culture to inspire his work. Now, Orlado is a creative consultant working on some of the largest brands in the world.

Jeff Boyes

Jeff Boyes was born in Maple Ridge, B.C. Canada and graduated from The University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, B.C. before moving to Vancouver to work in graphic design and printmaking. Jeff was exposed to screen-printing at an early age by his dad, who ran a screen-printing shop. His subject matter usually involves pop culture and is very graphic design influenced.

Joshua Budich (1977)

Joshua Budich was born in 1977. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. He is a freelance artist, illustrator and kick-ass designer.

Vincent Rhafael Aseo

Vincent Rhafael a.k.a ASEO is an illustrator and designer based in Makati, Phillippines. He started his career as a designer in BoNa Coffee Company and its divisions Sujivana, Onyx Web Wizards and Freespeech Publications. He then focused on web design in 2009 where he worked for various companies and real estate firms, however his passion in the art of vector graphics led to his illustration career in the dawn of 2010. Since then, he has been featured in various art sites & multiple magazines such as Advanced Photoshop (Germany/UK), Oracoms The Book of Creations (France) and The Imperial College of London Magazine. Currently he is part of Shadowness.coms mod team as Vector CV. of the admins of Vector X Vexel PH.

Dani Vendrell Oduber "Vandrell"

Daniel Vendrell Oduber was born in Barcelona, Spain, He studies in  Escuela de Comic Joso and loves the realistic erotic art comics, pin-up manga's and 80's. Most of his work is done on Mac, but his portraits seem to have the texture and palette of traditional painting.

James Gurney (1958)

James Gurney was born in Glendale, California, United States in 1958. He is an artist and author best known for his illustrated book series Dinotopia, which is presented in the form of a 19th century explorer’s journal from an island utopia cohabited by humans and dinosaurs.

Gurney's freelance illustration career began in the 1980s, during which time he developed his characteristic realistic renderings of fantastic scenes, painted in oil using methods similar to the academic realists and Golden Age illustrators. He painted more than 70 covers for science fiction and fantasy paperback novels, and he created several stamp designs for the US Postal Service, most notably The World of Dinosaurs in 1996.

Mort Künstler (1931)

Mort Künstler was born in Brooklyn, New York, United States in 1931. He is an American artist known for his illustrative paintings of the American Civil War. His works are primarily sold as mass-produced printed reproductions. Künstler is also known for earlier commercial illustration before turning to Civil War themes in the early 1980s, a body of work that dealt with America's national story: from portraits of prehistoric American life to the odyssey of the space shuttle. His work has also been published in illustrated books and magazines and used by advertising agencies.

Gabriel Moreno (1973)

Gabriel Moreno was born in Baena, Córdoba, Spain, in 1973. He is an illustrator, engraver and painter based in Madrid, graduated in Fine Arts at Sevilla's University in 1998. Since then he has worked in different design studios and Andalusian advertising agencies. In 2004 he moved to Madrid, where in June 2007 he began to move his portfolio and after being selected amongst the 20 new talents of illustration, by the London magazine Computers Arts and receive their first assignments in advertising began his career as an illustrator.

Virgil Finlay (1914 - 1971)

Virgil Warden Finlay was born in Rochester, New York, United States, in 1914. He was a pulp fantasy, science fiction and horror illustrator. While he worked in a range of media, from gouache to oils, Finlay specialized in, and became famous for, detailed pen-and-ink drawings accomplished with abundant stippling, cross-hatching, and scratchboard techniques. Despite the very labor-intensive and time-consuming nature of his specialty, Finlay created more than 2600 works of graphic art in his 35-year career.

The Science Fiction Hall of Fame inducted Finlay in 2012.

Stanley Meltzoff (1917 - 2006)

Stanley Meltzoff was born in New York, United States, in 1917. He painted covers and interior spreads for the likes of Life, National Geographic, Saturday Evening Post, The Atlantic, and many others. His 65 covers for Scientific American was an indication of the good company that demanded his work. Today his art hangs in the National Gallery (Smithsonian), Getty Museum, and many other world-class institutions.

Bowing to the times, he switched gears and began painting saltwater game fish in their undersea environments.

Richard M. Powers (1921 - 1996)

Richard M. Powers was Born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, in 1921. He began by working in a conventional pulp paperback style, but quickly evolved a personal Surrealist idiom influenced by the cubists and surrealists, especially Picasso and Yves Tanguy. He also dabbled in abstract art and collage at a later age before dying in 1996 at the age of 75.

From the 1940s through the 1960s, he did many of covers for Doubleday. During the 1950s and 1960s, he served as an unofficial art director for Ballantine Books.
